Who the hell am I?

Happy in the mountains! These are the thoughts and feelings of a Parkie…. a Texan who has Parkinson’s Disease and happens to be a mom, librarian, bookseller, knitter, photographer and a great cook!  I am a life member of the American Library Association and a long-time advocate of Intellectual Freedom.  I am also a strong supporter of Emily’s List.

  6. I have Parkinson’s disease. A friend & I are starting something new – an “Advocacy list.” There are 1,500,000 people with PD in the U.S. And we hope to compile a list of people with PD and their friends & families who are interested in learning about patient-led advocacy issues.

Here is an example of a possible patient-led advocacy issue: there is now a big Cancer awareness project: “Stand up to Cancer.” What if patients with MS and ALS and PD decided to join together to start a similar campaign? Would you want to know about it?

We will not use your name without your permission. We will not share the list with others. We hope you will sign up. Read more about this initiative (and sign up) at the site below:

    Kind regards,

  7. Dear Bibmomma,

I hope you don’t mind, but I put your Early Onset Parkinson’s blog page as a link on my own Early Onset dementias page. Not that you have dementia, just that some Parkinson’s sufferers do end up with dementia and I wanted to provide them with a link to a blog that they might be able to relate to. This is the page I posted it to:

    http://early-onset-dementia.blogspot.com/

If you do have objections let me know and I will remove it immediately. My reason for putting it there is because I am trying to collate a site that has as much support information as possible for people with early onset dementias (it is quite hard to find stuff about Parkinson’s dementia however – if you have any hints…!?).

If you want to know why I am doing this you can read my story (my Dad has had early onset Alzheimer’s for the past 10yrs) on my other page:
    http://site.dementia-news.com/about_us.html

I also have a news page which I update daily..this is my main focus for now:
    http://dementia-news.blogspot.com/

Anyways, as I said, if you don’t want to be on my site, let me know. You can email me at admin@dementia-news.com.

    Kind Regards,

    Natalie
